My Grandmother’s Chest

The pieces from our mothers and grandmothers are the most valuable pieces for us. The stories of precious gemstones which are written by luminous effects… After Dilara Karabay had returned to Kapalıçarşı, felt she like she was at home and created this collection, ‘My Grandmother’s Chest’. When I went to Kapalıçarşı, gemstones and diamonds were looking so familiar, that I felt like I was at home. I was thinking about this familiarity, then I remembered my grand grandmother’s chest. She was opening it and showing me her jewellery. At the same time sew was telling me about the stories of each piece. It was like a film frame. She growed me up and her memories are like a fairy tale for me.”
